Keyboard shortcuts and click labels on screen

With nothing selected, open the Keys tab.

Showing the keys you pressed

Show shortcuts draws the key combinations you pressed over the recording, as the recorder wrote them down. Shortcuts size makes them bigger or smaller.

Show every key decides how much is drawn. Off shows combinations involving Ctrl, Alt or Windows, and the function keys. On shows plain typing as well.

Off is the useful setting for a tutorial: the viewer needs to see Ctrl+Shift+P, not every letter of the word you typed into the search box. Turn it on when the video is specifically about typing something exact.

If nothing appears, the recording was made with key logging switched off in the recorder's settings menu. It cannot be recovered afterwards.

Saying what each click did

Show click descriptions draws a short label at each click, such as "Opened the settings menu".

The recording already knows when every click happened and where. What it cannot know is what the click meant, so you write that. Press Descriptions to get the list of every click in the take, and type a line against the ones worth labelling. A click with no line draws nothing, so you only describe what matters.

Description size sets the text size, and there is a choice of where the label sits: beside the pointer, or centred at the bottom of the frame over the captions.

This is slow to fill in and it is worth it for a tutorial somebody will follow along with, because it turns a video of a mouse moving into a video that says what is happening.
