What you need

1 min read

Windows 10 or 11, 64 bit

Build 1809 or newer. Cilevi is native Windows code and uses the video encoders Windows already ships with, so there is no .NET runtime, no Electron and no Java to pull down first.

A graphics card, or none

Export runs on Direct3D 11 when the machine has a real graphics adapter and falls back to the processor when it does not. Both paths draw the same picture. You can force either one in the export window, and there is a note under the Renderer row telling you which adapter it found. A three minute project takes seconds on a graphics card and minutes without one, but it does finish either way.

Disk

A recording is written as it goes, so the space it needs grows with its length. A 1080p recording at the Balanced quality is roughly a gigabyte for twenty minutes. Exports are smaller than that.

A microphone and a camera, if you want them

Both are optional and both are off until you switch them on. Cilevi uses whatever Windows lists, so if a device works in the Windows camera or sound settings it works here.

What it does not need

No account. No internet connection at all, except the one time you choose to download a speech model for captions. No background service left running after you close it, and nothing added to your startup.
