What that warning means

SmartScreen shows it for programs it has not seen many times before. It is a measure of how familiar a file is, not of what is in it. Every new program from every small developer gets it, and it fades as more people run the same file.

Why a screen recorder looks unusual to a scanner

Cilevi does things that scanners are trained to be suspicious of: it captures the screen, it reads the mouse, and it can be told to note key presses so the editor can draw them over the video. Those are the features, and they are also the shape of things that behave badly.

If your antivirus flags it, that is why. Everything it does is visible in the app, and nothing leaves your machine.

The way to avoid the warning entirely

Install the Microsoft Store copy. Microsoft checks packages in the Store, and one installed from there does not get the SmartScreen box.

Key presses

If you would rather no key press was written down at all, turn off Record key presses for keystroke overlays in the recorder's settings menu. The only thing it costs you is the keyboard shortcut overlay in the editor.
